You Are Not A Blogger Until You Join BlogCatalog

Category: MontessoriThe Writer @ 12:31 am

I am pleased when Blogcatalog finally approve Accelarated Experience, a blog title to the site you are reading right now, http://absorbentmind.com. Read this post to know How I Chose The Domain Name?.

What Is BlogCatalog?

A social website which is said to have more than 80,000 sites submitted in one place. I may be wrong with the figure but you can see it for yourself that there is a huge number of bloggers everyday busying chatting, discussing and exchanging shouts (their personal mailboxes) with one another everyday. They have covered every needed feature a blogger would require to get the traffic, exposure and learning experience.

It is undeniably the place to submit your blog if you want to get a headstart in blogging. It might take you 48 hours to wait after your application is accepted but once you have your foot in the doorway, you will expect nothing less than 80,000 other blogs to connect with.

If you have studied the theory of society of cohesion, a term coined by Maria Montessori, you will understand perfectly the idea of how members of social community cohere to form a binding contract of friendship based on mutual freedom and respect for one another.

What you stand to gain from joining BlogCatalog is what bloggers want to achieve anyway. Readers, readers to comment on your blog, bloggers to discuss and share their experience, and lots more.

The key to BlogCatalog’s success is in their discussion board, shoutboxes and the fact that bloggers are free to choose who they want to connect with. Bloggers are people and human beings have to interact and actually become socially skilled and confident. That is the foundation of society.

Bloggers On The Main Discussion Board

Bloggers who have joined BC (blogcatalog) wear their badge proudly I think. I mean it creates a sense of belonging to a community. I know there have been many instances where you do get into disagreement in the discussion board. You can leave the general discussion board and focus on connecting people within your own groups.

Like I have stated before in a mirror post, “You are not a blogger until you join Blogcatalog”. Join now and get approval.

The Homemaker’s Blog

Category: BloggingThe Writer @ 7:18 am

So, after I have written a few posts, it appears that there are more comments on my first blogpost “How Did I Choose This Domain Name”. I am not sure whether readers are coming to read about how to blog, build a website or learn about childhood experience. I do think that the title has hinted to me that I should be writing about how to live a blogging life as a homemaker or how to live a homemaker’s life as a blogger. I am confused so if you are reading this, I hope you can help me decide. Your comments are welcome.

I was pleasantly surprised at the wide range of topics people are attracted to blog about or search for on the internet. I spend all my time with my family, blogging at home is a great way to give me an outlet to connect with the world outside without leaving the doorstep. This blog is a self hosted domain name which means I make my own decisions how where and how I want to dress up my internet weblog.

The steps to setting up a blog are vey simple, although you have to be brave to conquer each step. Learn them at your own pace and you will see progress.

Your first concern should be to ask yourself how much time can you spend online writing or updating your blog? If you do not wish to learn how to manage your blog, use the free blogging platforms like wordpress.com, blogspot.com or the most recent one called moonfruit. These are very popular online blogging services and they come with free themes for you to choose from. Themes basically refer to the website where you want to begin posting your articles. After choosing a design you desire, go ahead, sign up and start blogging.

Give your blog a name and describe in the heading so visitors understand what to expect when they come visit your homepage. So if you only want to update your blogs without having the need to work with analytics or design, go with the free blogging platforms I have mentioned above. You get unlimited storage space and if you decide you do not wish to blog anymore, just delete the entire blogsite. :P

Where can you blog from?”

Anywhere, anytime. Here are 3 services you can choose from, each providing unlimited storage space for your blogs and a community where you can link to and get help from whenever you have technical problems you cannot resolve.

Moonfruit
Wordpress.com
Blogger

Now that I have told you the free website builder services, I have come to interim decision on what this site will be about. “The Making Of A Homemaker’s Blog”.

How Did I Choose The Domain Name?

Category: MontessoriThe Writer @ 3:51 am

The

url of this blog is inspired by a book of the same name, “The Absorbent Mind”, written by Maria Montessori, founder of the Montessori Method of Education. This lady had written several other books based on her research and works with children about whom she had immense in learning about how they grow and develop from the day they were born.

The

book was first written in Italian, as described on the translator’s notes: “precise, condensed, scientific and popular”. It took me two years to complete the book in its entirety while I was pursuing my Diploma in Montessori Methods of Education. The book has been such a great source of knowledge to discover how and what kids learn, so much so that I have not been able to dump it like I did with Principles of Economics.

Most

of Montessori’s books are not written according to the phases of child’s development from birth to adulthood; understandably she was learning on the job. However, her discoveries had led her to prepare, create and invent methods just to cater to the learning patterns which the children presented themselves. It was in the Children House (as she affectionately called it), that the system of teaching begun to take shape.

So

on one hand, you will find books written by Maria Montessori to be profound and scholarly; on the other hand, you will also be wondering how it would be practical to put her philosophies to work in today’s education. If you have not had the time to read any of her books, the best place to find information about her is on the internet. Just type her name on google and you will get lots of search results there.
