Rice is staple food for many people around the world, especially Asians. In many parts of the world, a family’s income level can also be determined by the amount of rice they eat per day or per month, or grade of rice they consume. For instance, Basmati Rice is considered a luxury food which only the wealthy can afford.

Of course, there are alternatives like wholemeal bread but if rice has been your staple diet, switching from rice to bread is like going through a diet programme.

What if there is a way to help others who cannot afford to buy rice and it costs you nothing but time to go online? What if this method also helps you to practice your language skills whilst you are also playing online?
The FreeRice is a non-profit website run by the United Nations World Food Program. This website will provide such a platform for you to spend as little as a few clicks on the keyboard to answer simple questions (not a survey but educational). The subjects range from the arts, language, mathematics to geography. For every correct answer you provide by clicking on one of the choices given, you will be contributing 10 grains of rice to those in need. The more correct answers you give, the bigger will be the contribution. Neat. And it costs you no money to play it.

Reignite the sense of fun with childhood activities to rid yourself from the worries of ‘rote routines, fixed rate mortgages and lawn care that fuel stress, narrow-mindedness and rigidity’. (Ladies’ Home Journal, November 2007). Ironkid activities are aimed at motivating the family to lead an active, positive and healthy lifestyle.

Playing like child will leave your feeling as carefree as kids again. Songs like Duck Duck Goose, Mary Had A Little Lamb, and Twinkle Twinkle Stars have been translated in as many languages as there are countries in the world. The highest earning singing group from Australia is not Air Supply or Jimmy Barnes, but The Wiggles. Larry King reportedly said that when he interviewed the late Steve Irwin in his show, he became an instant hero to his kids. Steve stole the hearts of many children, around the world with his carefree spirited ways with animals, a trait that is fuel the lives and creativity in all of us.

Play More And Grow Up Less?

Have pajama parties; Bake cookies like gingerbread man and meringue; Jump rope; Sing children’s songs; Have a bubble bath
Play Lego Blocks; Play Monopoly; Fly a kite; Go fishing in the lake; Have peanut butter sandwich; Backyard cricket;

Here’s an example of The Ironkids contest you can do at home

Among activities to choose from in an Ironkids contest are:

running races(down the driveway, around the block – you need to make there are no moving cars on the driveway.), crawling races (on soft grass), distance throwing of a softball or football, distance kicking of a soccer ball, a running and a standing-still long jump, cook the dinner, pick up the toys, and wash the dirty pans.

When the race is over, the winner gets to choose the next set of Ironkids activities. In whatever circumstances or environment you choose to play these games, be extra careful in areas such as driveway and kitchen.
